ATWOOD (May 6) — The West Carroll War Eagles saw their season come to an end Monday with an 8-5 loss to the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers in a District 11A Baseball Tournament elimination game.
Central struck first with a run in the top of the first, but West Carroll answered with one in the home half. The Tigers pulled ahead again with two runs in the third and two more in the top of the fourth, but the War Eagles quickly cut their deficit in half with a pair in the bottom half. They then pulled within one with a run in the fifth. Central pushed the lead with three in the sixth, and a West Carroll rally in the bottom of the seventh fell short at just a run.
Tiger Dalton Williams was 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. Gage Lowry was 1-for-4 with three RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Conner Gaia was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored. Malik Mathis was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Thomas Crews was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Austin Craig was 1-for-2. Mac Hooten was 0-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored.
