TREZEVANT (April 13) — The City of Trezevant will hold a public hearing on May 11, 6 p.m. to discuss the proposed improvements to the water and wastewater system in the city.
Jeff Goad said the hearing is to satisfy a requirement to obtain the State Revolving Fund of $88,000 to make the much-needed improvements to the system. The loan portion of the fund bears an interest rate of less than one percent. The city is also awaiting the results of a water rate study. Public water system must operate at a break-even or profit, according to state law.
Goad also indicated the first reading of the 2021-22 fiscal year city budget is on May 11 at the 6:30 p.m. meeting of Mayor and Council.
In other business, the Mayor and Council heard a report from Councilman Leon Lyell that the Fire Department has a replacement van and new air compressor.
