HUNTINGDON (June 10) — Friday, the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce held a grand opening and ribbon cutting for Tri Star Family Health Care in Huntingdon. Visitors enjoyed snacks and could enter a drawing for coupons from 1822 Coffee Co. or Wild Roots Plants in Huntingdon.

Tri Star Family Health Care is a family practice facility, providing care for patients from birth to geriatric. Healthcare providers Heather Garrett, FNP-BC, Angela Tippitt, FNP-BC; and Keliea Winstead, PA-C own the facility, which began accepting and treating patients April 4. They opened Tri Star Family Health Care to create a balance between their family and professional lives, with a goal to provide a friendly, welcoming environment “where [patients] feel like more than a chart,” according to co-owner Heather Garrett.

Heather Garrett is a board certified family nurse practitioner (FNP). She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Union University in 1997 and her Master of Science in Nursing at the Mississippi University for Women in 2004. Previously, she worked with Dr. Lee Carter at a private office, and she is excited to continue treating patients in Huntingdon. Heather lives in McKenzie with her husband, Hunter, and two sons, Hayden and Hudson.

Angela Tippitt is a board certified family nurse practitioner (FNP). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Union University in 2008 and her Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier University in 2014. Angela previously worked at the Jackson Clinic in Huntingdon and was most recently employed at the VA Clinic in Dover. Angela is proud to care for patients across all ages and is excited to practice in her hometown again. Angela Tippitt resides in Huntingdon with her husband, Ryan, and two children, Nolan and Hannah.

Keliea Winstead is a certified physician assistant (PA). She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Bethel University in 2012 and received her master’s from the Bethel University Physician Assistant Program in 2016. Keliea also teaches the PA program at Bethel University. Before opening Tri Star Family Health Care, she worked in Urgent Care with Hometown Health Clinic. Now, she is excited to focus on family medicine. Keliea lives with her husband, Austin, and four children, Hunter, Hannah, Harper, and Holden, in Huntingdon.

Angela, Keliea, and Heather employ three full-time employees and one part-time employee at Tri Star Family Health Care. The clinic has five exam rooms, and lab services are also provided. Clinic staff can prescribe medications and treatment plans and refer patients to specialists for further care. Lee Carter, MD, from Baptist Hospital-Carroll County, is Tri Star Family Health Care’s supervising medical doctor. He oversees all treatment plans.

The clinic takes most major insurances and offers affordable rates for cash-pay patients. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is closed from noon until 1 p.m. for lunch. To make an appointment, call (731) 535-3600. Walk-in patients are also accepted.

On behalf of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, director Brad Hurley is excited to have Tri Star Family Health Care bring medical facilities into Huntingdon and Carroll County. Tri Star Family Health Care is one of ten medical facilities in the county.
