McKENZIE (January 9) — Ashley Wilson Little long dreamed of a retail store in downtown McKenzie. That dream came true October 1, 2020 when she bought the former Belles on Broadway from Tessa O’Brien.
The totally remodeled store, with a rustic look, located at 55 Broadway, was perfect for Ashley and her new line of ladies clothing, gifts, furniture, and bereavement items.
The mother of two, Morgan Little, 13, and Reed Little, 10, purchased the building and contents in late 2020, during the pandemic. She changed the product mix, adding women’s southern bohemian styles, and enhanced lines such as wood works, refinished furniture, Buff City Soaps, candles, and cutting boards. Urban Trading also offers tanning services. Soon, Urban Trading will offer vintage wedding rentals and wedding registries.
Ashley grew up in the Weakley County portion of rural McKenzie, attended McKenzie schools and graduated from Gleason. She said she often called City Hall to see if there were any available building downtown. And finally, the perfect building became available.
Store hours, beginning February 1, are Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
