McKENZIE (May 21) — McKenzie Rotary Club held Steve Belcher with the U.S. Census speak about the upcoming 2020 census.
Belcher said the he supervises 14 rural counties, in which 2,000 temporary, part-time workers will be hired.
The pay is $14 per hour and 58 cents per mile. Workers have the privilege of working flexible hours and can work in addition to a full-time regular job.
Initially, workers are need as address cavassers to map where residents are located.
Later, workers are needed to survey those households that fail to complete the form that was previously mailed to the household.
The U.S. Census is mandated in the U.S. Constitution to be conducted every 10 years.
An accurate count is essential for local governments to get their share of federal funding.
Also, the Census helps determine the number of county, state, and local government representatives a region has.
