ATWOOD (December 13) — The West Carroll Band Department presented its annual Winter Band Concert Sunday afternoon in the West Carroll Junior Senior High gymnasium.
Directors Michael Nelson and Randy Wilson alternated conducting the three bands.
First, Nelson directed the elementary beginning band, explaining between songs the progression of difficulty as the beginners learned their first notes and built from there. The band performed First Notes, Rolling Along, Hot Cross Buns, Lightly Row, A Mozart Melody, Doodle All Day, My Dreydl and Jingle Bells.
Next, Wilson conducted the junior high intermediate band as they performed Celtic Christmas and Jingle Bones, the latter featuring the trombone section of Joy Bryant, Kalee Coleman and Arlexis Perry.
Finally, Nelson and Wilson led the high school concert band with I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas, Happy X-Mas (War is Over), Deep Winter’s Night and Christmas Festival. Wilson directed Happy X-Mas (War is Over) as Nelson joined the percussion section.
