WAYNESBORO (March 5) — After eliminating district foe McKenzie Rebels two nights earlier in the first night of men’s Region 6A action in Waynesboro, West Carroll War Eagles failed to overcome the hard-charging Loretto Mustangs in Thursday night action. West Carroll earned the runner-up position while Loretto earned the championship. The final was 62-47. Both advanced to Sectionals on Monday, March 9.
The War Eagles jumped to an early lead, however, the Loretto Mustangs soon found their footing and cut the deficit to one point at the end of one quarter. The second and third quarter scoring by Loretto was the undoing for West Carroll. The Mustangs doubled both the second and third quarters of the War Eagles.

West Carroll scored 18, 5, 6, and 18 in the respective four quarters. Loretto scored 19, 10, 12, and 21.
Jeremiah Bryant was the leading scoring for West Carroll with 13 points, including three threes. He scored six in the first, and seven in the fourth quarter. Luke Moore had eleven, including one three-pointer and six free throws. Jalen Anglin had ten points, Josh Clark had seven, including a three-pointer, and Tyler Johnson and Jed Robinson each had three, each on a three-pointer.
Loretto was led by Blade Tidwell and Amauri Young, both with 21 points. Young had three threes and six free throws. Tidwell had one three-pointer. Tabias Sirmones had nine points, Xavier Young had six, and Shaler Hankins had five.
