ATWOOD (May 2) — West Carroll’s Board of Education met in their final meeting last Thursday before school lets out later this month.
After approving the consent agenda which included approval of $750 yearbook supplements for the yearbook sponsors along with resignations from David Hale and Adam Welch, the board approved an ACA Insurance Resolution with little discussion.
They also approved a Disciplinary Hearing Authority Committee which includes principals Jackie Wester, Tracy Foster, and Tim Stratton along with Shane DePriest, Regina Alred and Dana Carey.
They heard a presentation from Mandy Drewry and Jennifer Medford with Coordinated School Health regarding screenings they had done in the West Carroll Schools plus events that Coordinated School Health had done during the school year. Out of 118 students screened at West Carroll Primary School this year 56 were in Kindergarten and the others in 2nd grade.

Out of 62 second graders, 1 was considered underweight, 26 found to be healthy, 10 found to be overweight and 23 found to be obese.
The group found to be overweight and/or obese totaled 33 students or 53% of the second graders screened.
