West Carroll Schools Announce Teachers, Important Dates

ATWOOD — West Carroll Special School District announces the assignment of faculty and staff for the 2019-2020 school year and the important dates for parents and students.
The first day of school for first through 12th grades is August 5 with school beginning at 7:50 a.m. And dismissing at 11 a.m. Breakfast will be served, but not lunch. Buses will run as normal.
Schools begin full-day operations on August 6.
Pre-K students’ schedule is as follows: August 5 and 6 – Pre-K home visits, August 7 and 8, one-half of the Pre-K students will attend of each of the days. August 9, all Pre-K students attend.
Kindergarten students’ schedule is as follows: August 5 – registration (if not already registered) and Kindergarten screening; August 6, 7 and 8, designated one-third of students will start on each of the days; and August 9, all Kindergarten students attend.
Open House dates are as follows: West Carroll Primary, August 1 with Pre-K and First Grade attending at 6-7 p.m.; Kindergarten and Second Grade attending at 7-8 p.m.

West Carroll Elementary’s open house is July 30 with third and fifth grade at 6-7 p.m.; fourth and sixth grade at 7-8 p.m.
West Carroll Junior/Senior High’s open house is August 6 at 6-7 p.m.
Dexter Williams, director of schools, said, “We are very excited to begin the 2019-2020 school year. We are ecstatic about our newly hired staff members and the curriculum changes that will be implemented this school year. We are encouraged by last year’s successes and we look forward to continuing to move West Carroll forward in a positive direction.”

New faculty and staff includes: Misty Evans, second grade; Malorie Watkins, Kindergarten; Trey Cantrell, History at WCJSHS; Spencer Ezell, Science at WCJSHS; Adam Douglass, English at WCHSHS; Keisha Jackson, sixth grade Science; Amanda Climer, 5th/6th Special Education; Lindsay Morton, Library Assistant at WCES; Angie Morris, Library Attendant; LaQuinta Shanta’ Emerson, Special Education Assistant at WCPS; Chad Hughes, Custodian at WCES; Amanda Wilkes, fourth grade Math; Becky Coleman, Special Education at WCJSHS; Lisa Graves, eighth grade Science; David Hochreiter, Agriculture WCJSHS; Anthony Blackman, Educational Assistant at WCJSHS; and Kristin Lindsey, Culinary Arts at WCJSHS.
Transfers among staff: Erica Boone to first grade, Jennifer Hames to third grade Science, Debbie Reed to sixth grade English, Beth Bridges to third grade English, Kim Allen to fourth grade English, Jackie Poole to secretary at WCPS, Kay Story to custodian at WCPS, Kelly Todd to principal WCJSHS, Shane DePriest to assistant principal at WCJSHS, Scott Guymon to Physical Education teacher at WCJSHS, and Jason Fitch to computer/keyboarding.
Vacant positions include: seventh grade Science and Social Studies and Special Education at WCES.
