McKENZIE — Lt. Colonel (ret) USAF William Edward Whitfill, 99, died Thursday, August 6, 2020 at his residence at Lakeside Retirement Center in McKenzie. Mr. Whitfill, a retired farmer for many years in Texas and retired from the US Air Force with 38 years three months and 22 days with rank of Lieutenant Colonel, during WWII he was a pilot in the US Army Air Corps. He was born on October 16, 1920 in Lockney, Texas to Edward William and Eva Pearl Weathers Whitfill. While living in McKenzie he attended the First Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include three daughters, Jill Whitfill of McKenzie, Judy FitzGerald and Jane Nagy both of Texas, two sons Jim Whitfill of New Mexico and Joe Whitfill of Texas.
There will be a memorial service at Lakeside Retirement Center and in Texas, both at a later date.
