HUNTINGDON (October 25) — Carroll County Inclusion Park will soon be a reality, thanks to many donors and major contributions from the County of Carroll at $400,000, the State of Tennessee’s Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in the amount of $497,250, plus a donation of land by the Town of Huntingdon.

McKENZIE (October 26) — On Thursday night, the McKenzie Rebels hosted the West Carroll War Eagles for the Region 6-1A championship. Coming into the game, both teams were 4-0 in the region. At night’s end, the Rebels took the win, 42-12.

HUNTINGDON (October 27) — On Friday, the Huntingdon Mustangs welcomed Trenton Peabody to Paul Ward stadium for their final regular season match-up. Their 48-14 victory over the Golden Tide capped a nine-game winning streak and gave them a 9-1 regular season record. The Mustangs are a perfect 7-0 in Region 6-2A and claimed the region title for the 2023 season.

McKenzie Church of Christ Free Spaghetti Supper The McKenzie Church of Christ is hosting a FREE spaghetti supper at their building on Highland Drive on Thursday, November 2, 5-7 p.m. (or until all food is gone). Dining-in is available or drive-thru if you want to pick it up and go home to eat. The menu consists of spaghetti, crackers, dessert and a drink (drink for dining in only). Public Intoxication — Mikel Thomas Dillingham, 54, of Hollow Rock, was arrested on 10/19/23 for public intoxication. Deputy Meier responded to a call at a home in Hollow Rock for an unwanted male subject. When on scene, Mikel was discovered in the bathroom with the door off the hinges and yelling and talking to an imaginary person. He was under the influence of narcotics and made several comments about killing himself. The owner of the home did not want him charged, just wanted him to leave but the deputy took him for suicide watch and public intoxication.

Some of my fondest memories growing up come from my recollections of me as a little boy spending time with my granddad, Verdell Story. He was born and raised here, and when he returned home in the early 1980s after his career in California, it was as if he never left. Most of his friends and acquaintances welcomed him home.

McKENZIE, Tenn. — Funeral services for James Robert “Bobby” McDonald are Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 12 p.m. at Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, 10 a.m. until service time. Interment is at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Reverends Trisha and Alan Trull will be the officiants, and Randal Lusk, Casey Drewry, Tommy Berryhill, Marshall Russell, Roger Reed, Russel McDonald and Walker Ashley will serve as pallbearers.
