Mildred Herndon

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. - Mrs. Mildred Herndon, 94, of Huntingdon, Tennessee, died Monday, February 12, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024 in the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Carroll Memorial Gardens. Brother Johnny Drinkard, Sr. officiating.

The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Friday,  5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Mrs. Herndon was born June 7, 1929 to the late Noah Chester Smith and Ethel Mae Sooner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Herndon; son, Garland Teddy Wilbert Thomas Herndon; daughter, Loretta Herndon; great-granddaughter, Bianca LeAnn Conroy.

She is survived by eight daughters, Martha Ann Lowe of Bruceton, Tennessee, Mae Margaret (Charles) Wilson of Huntingdon, Tennessee, Shirley Jane (Michael) Reed of Huntingdon, Tennessee, Delores Sue Green of Atwood, Tennessee, Mildred Kay Willis of Huntingdon, Tennessee, Patricia Carroll (Phillip) Hicks of Huntingdon, Tennessee, Nadine Herndon of Huntingdon, Tennessee and Tena Melissa (Robert Anthony) Hicks of Cedar Grove, Tennessee; one sister Mae Frances Spicer of Mossport, Mississippi; one brother Jimmy Smith of Lexington, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
