HUNTINGDON (October 3) — The sounds of precision and pageantry filled the air on Saturday, October 3, 2026, as bands from across the region gathered for the annual Huntingdon Marching Band Invitational. Under the bright lights of competition, student musicians and color guard performers showcased months of rigorous preparation, vying for top honors in a series of classifications based on band size.

McKENZIE (October 2) — On Friday morning, a McKenzie resident was involved in a vehicle collision with a tractor trailer in McKenzie and remained stranded at the scene for nearly 48 minutes while waiting for emergency medical services. At the time of the incident, no local ambulances were available within Carroll County, and low cloud cover prevented regional air ambulances from responding. An ambulance was ultimately dispatched from Henry County Hospital's ambulance provider, American Medical Response (AMR) Emergency Ambulance Service.

Assault on Law Enforcement Officer — On September 18, Sgt. Sean Bongiovanni responded to Huntingdon Baptist Hospital regarding an unruly patient awaiting transport to a mental health facility. Deputies made contact with Stephen Miles, 52, of McKenzie, who had reportedly become violent with hospital staff after previously being transported to the hospital from a behavioral health facility. As deputies attempted to escort him from the hospital, Miles allegedly struck Sgt. Bongiovanni in the head with his own head.

McKENZIE (October 1) — McKenzie Middle School closed out its season at home against the Dresden Lions on Thursday night. On eighth-grade night, the Rebels hoped to go out with a win, but the Lions proved too tough an opponent, handing McKenzie a 44-6 loss.

HUNTINGDON (September 30) — A Veteran Outreach Fair was held Wednesday in Huntingdon at the Civic Center. The fair provided the area's Veterans an opportunity to learn about resources available for them and to build connections. There were representatives from the Veteran Affairs offices, different Veteran of Foreign War outposts, and plenty of information and resources were given to veterans.
