McKENZIE — Bethel University is opening two new doors into its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program: Direct Entry admission for first-year and transfer students, and a dedicated LPN to BSN pathway for working nurses. The expansion comes as Tennessee faces a serious nursing shortage, with the Tennessee Hospital Association projecting a statewide shortfall of more than 8,500 registered nurses by 2035.

McKENZIE (July 7) — The McKenzie Special School District Board of Education approved a $15.7 million budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year during a brief meeting Tuesday afternoon. Also approved was the certified property tax rate of $.7483 per $100 assessed value, unchanged from last year. The tax rate is distributed between the General Purpose Fund ($.4898) and the Debt Service Fund ($.2585).

PARIS (July 7) — A Henry County Grand Jury has indicted two local businessmen on drug and firearms charges. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office and 24th Judicial Drug Task Force arrested Jay Sukhadia and Dharmendra Sukhadia Tuesday on Grand Jury indictments that were returned on Monday, July 6.
