McKenzie Alumni Decades Reunion is This Weekend
From the Oct 1, 2024 e-EditionMcKENZIE — McKenzie High School Alumni Association hosts its first Decades Reunion on October 4 and 5 with a parade, golf tournament, homecoming game, block party and individual class reunions.
The events kick off with the Alumni Association Golf Tournament on Friday, October 4, 8 a.m. at Carroll Lake Golf Course. All golfers need to be present by 7:45 a.m.
Space is still available for teams of four for the golf scramble. Entry fee is $200 per team. Contact Brian Winston at Carroll Bank and Trust (731-352-2282).
Homecoming Parade — The traditional Homecoming Parade begins at noon on Friday in downtown McKenzie, travels down Stonewall and passes both the McKenzie Middle School and McKenzie Elementary School.
Pre-game Decades Reunion at Rebel Stadium 4:30-8:30 p.m. Admission to the game is $7 and must be paid by all attendees as they tailgate. Food will be provided by the Alumni Association. An RSVP is requested to participate. The reunion area is casual and come-and-go. Tables and chairs at the tailgate will be limited, so visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair if possible. Alumni are also asked to wear red and gray to show your Rebel Pride!
All interested MHS alumni may join the MHSAA at the registration table at the tailgate party. Dues are $10/annual or $100/lifetime, payable by cash, check (made payable to “MHSAA”), or Venmo. A donation box will be available at the registration table if anyone would like to make additional contributions to the organization.
A Block Party in downtown McKenzie is 9-11 p.m.
Saturday is filled with individual class reunions.

6 p.m. is the Class of 2014 Reunion at the New Valley Event Venue - Gleason. Katelyn Ridley Robertson is the contact through Facebook Messenger.
The MHSAA Pop Up Memorabilia Exhibit is available for viewing at City Florist (17 Broadway) Monday to Friday (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) and on Saturday, October 5, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The weekend is capped with the band Flashback performing at Hometown Hangout from 6-8 p.m. It is a place to gather with friends, get dinner and listen to live music. It is located at 14985 Highland Drive.
