Amazing Teacher
From the Nov 26, 2024 e-EditionHow do you not know how amazing you are?
How is it possible that you forgot or never knew?
Do you know how many lives you’ve touched? Thousands.
Every child, whether it was a few minutes or years under your instruction. You have changed thousands of lives. You’ve planted the seeds. And those seeds went on to become little trees and mighty oaks.
And your teaching went out into the world with each of your students.
You’ve made a difference all over.
Your influence, even though it can’t be measured easily, has deep roots in 100s of communities.
And new seeds were planted there too by your students. The love for your profession that you poured into each of your students is being poured into their children and students.
The lessons you taught have been shared a million times.
No one told you before. Because how do you tell someone that you carried on their teachings when their teachings have become part of your very being, like breathing.
Me as the student, I can’t tell you now where I begin and your teaching ends because it is a part of me as surely as my name is.
I see the beauty in ordinary life because you trained us to look for the beauty in everything.
You taught me from an early age and my spirit comes alive when I’m doing the things that you taught me to do.
Is it any wonder my profession isn’t far from where I started? A lifelong love.
You did that. Thank you.
Please never forget.
Dedicated to all teachers, and one really special one that knows who they are.
