Area Athletes Excel at State Track Meet

KNOXVILLE (May 19) — Several area athletes excelled at the TSSAA 2026 Division I Class A State Track and Field Championships Tuesday at Tom Black Track on the campus of the University of Tennessee, including three second place finishes for McKenzie athletes and two fourth place finishes for Huntingdon.
In the Girls 3200-Meter Run, Dresden freshman Hudson McDaniel was the champion with a time of 11:48.12. McKenzie sophomore Abigail Wallace was the runner-up (11:50.90). Westview junior Alaina Uselton finished in fourth (11:59.35), just .01 seconds behind third.
In the Girls 1600-Meter Run, McKenzie's Wallace was the runner-up with a time of 5:34.66. Dresden sophomore Bailey Warbington finished fourth (5:42.31).
In the Girls 800-Meter Run, Dresden's Warbington finished third (2:31.59). Her teammate, junior Fjella Aden, was fifth (2:38.40). McKenzie's Wallace qualified but did not compete.
In the Girls 4x800-Meter Relay, McKenzie's team of Wallace, Autumn Haywood, Bella Sass and Sophie Dameron (and alternate Natalia Taylor) finished as runner-up with a time of 10:19.61 (a school record). Dresden's relay team was third (10:20.45).
In the Girls Long Jump, Huntingdon sophomore Kaylen Cary finished fourth.
In the Boys 3200-Meter Run, Westview senior Jack Mantooth claimed the championship with a time of 9:38.15. Huntingdon senior Blaine Todd was fourth (9:52.73), and Greenfield junior Deegan Arant was fifth (10:12.88).
In the Boys 1600-Meter Run, Westview's Mantooth was the runner-up with a time of 4:28.91.
In the Boys 800-Meter Run, Dresden sophomore Vaughn Bounds was the champion with a time of 1:59.21.
In the Boys 4x800-Meter Relay, Dresden's team finished third with a time of 8:22.69.
