Banner to Be Honored as Century Business

Join us, the associates of The McKenzie Banner, as the state of Tennessee honors the company as a Century Business. The event is Wednesday, September 18, 10 to 11:30 a.m. at 3 Banner Row, McKenzie. Come and go as you please. Refreshments are available. The company is the oldest business in McKenzie and started in 1870, one year following the incorporation of the City of McKenzie. In its 154-year history, it has undergone many changes and a few owners. It is the only home-owned media company serving Carroll County.

The Washburn family has owned the company since 1968 and its now in the third generation with owners Jason and Brittany (Washburn) Martin. Joel Washburn is semi-retiring at the end of September after 45 years of full-time service as a journalist.

Visitors can see the panels of history depicting the various owners and staff members from the early days until today.

The newspaper also has a full-service print shop that can be viewed as part of the reception.
