Bethel, Eastside FCE Notes
From the Dec 9, 2025 e-EditionMcKENZIE (November 13) — There were six members present for our November meeting at the Mays’ home. Thought for the day was read by our president, Gail Eubanks: “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them,” she said, quoting John F. Kennedy.
Gail read the pledge, and then we proceeded to the devotion given by our hostess for the month, Pennye Mays. She used a Helen Steiner Rice poem, “There is sunshine in a Smile.”
Minutes were read by our secretary and reporter, Danita Laman. They were approved as read. Next, the treasury report was given and approved. Roll call was answered with, “What is one Thanksgiving dish that you can eat anytime of the year?”
Old business: Our soup and dessert fund raiser made $400. Cakes for rehab this month will be made by Gail. In December cakes will be made by Pennye and in January by Judy Roberts.
New business: Meal kits including the recipe will be our project for Carl Perkins starting in January.
The educational program was given by Pennye on maintaining and caring for Christmas Cactus. The plants need a period of darkness to encourage new growth. Wait until the plant quits blooming before repotting. Be sure not to over water.
Dates to remember: Cookie Exchange on December 8th, in the kitchen of the Complex at 10 a.m.
Christmas lunch for the club is December 11 at 11:15 a.m. at the Mexican restaurant, El Vallarta, in McKenzie.
January 15 is “Leadership in Action” at Jackson. Registration has to be sent in by January 3, so money needs to be to Gail by the end of December.
The next meeting is Christmas lunch. Hope to see you there.
