Bethel Installs New Signage on University Drive
From the Oct 28, 2025 e-Edition
McKENZIE — Bethel University installed new signage at the intersection of State Route 22 and University Drive. The sign is located just off the highway right-of-way to designate the route to the university.
University Drive is positioned along the former railroad bed that brought train passengers to McKenzie and Bethel College. Once it was repurposed as a road, it was named College Drive and later changed to University Drive after Bethel changed its name from Bethel College to Bethel University. On the campus of Bethel, near the log cabin, stands a concrete marker with a ‘W’ on it, indicating to the train engineer to blow the whistle for the street crossing at Cherry Avenue.
