From the Dec 9, 2025 e-Edition
McKENZIE (December 3) — On a cold winter evening, Bethel University hosted the first of its planned annual Christmas tree lighting ceremonies near the historic log cabin on campus.
Bethel President Dr. Perry Moulds, along with Vice President Lougan Bishop, Renaissance Executive Director Matthew Holt, and McKenzie Mayor Griffin, welcomed students, faculty, staff, and community members to the event.
Dr. Moulds remarked that this ceremony marks another milestone in establishing annual traditions at Bethel University. Attendees enjoyed Christmas carols, a prayer, and a welcoming message from Mayor Griffin. The nationally recognized fiddle player, Mary Parker, from the Renaissance Bluegrass Quartet, also performed during the ceremony.
After the tree was lit, guests celebrated with cookies, hot chocolate, and cider, provided by Bethel’s Dining Services and served inside the log cabin’s dogwalk.
