McKENZIE (Aug. 20) — Bethel University today announced the addition of seven new undergraduate majors: Artificial Intelligence, Biology Business, Cybersecurity, Human Resource Management, Forensic Investigation, Forensic Science and Neuroscience.

Each major was developed in response to what employers are asking for, and each builds on academic strengths Bethel already has. Organizations increasingly depend on artificial intelligence, digital security and strategic workforce management. At the same time, the sciences continue to drive advances in research, healthcare and biotechnology. The new programs draw on Bethel's established coursework in biology, business, information technology and criminal justice to give students a direct path into those fields.

"Bethel exists to prepare students for lives of purpose, and that means staying ahead of where the world is headed," said Perry Moulds, president of Bethel University. "These seven programs reflect our commitment to giving students the tools, the training and the character to lead in fields that are shaping our future."

Charting New Paths for Bethel Students

Each new program is designed for the long run, preparing graduates not only for their first job but for a career that can adapt as their field changes.

  • Artificial Intelligence - Prepares students to build the intelligent systems reshaping how organizations operate, pairing technical skill with an understanding of the ethics and business context AI requires.
  • Biology Business - Combines Bethel's rigorous biology curriculum with a strong business foundation, preparing graduates for careers where life science and commerce intersect, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, laboratory management, medical sales, regulatory affairs and science-based entrepreneurship.
  • Cybersecurity - Trains students to defend the systems, networks and data organizations depend on, with certification-aligned preparation for a field facing a persistent shortage of qualified professionals.
  • Forensic Investigation - Blends forensic science with criminal investigation and behavioral science, preparing students for investigative and crime-scene careers.
  • Forensic Science - Applies laboratory science to the pursuit of justice, preparing graduates for crime laboratories, forensic careers and graduate study.
  • Human Resource Management - Equips students to recruit, develop and support the workforce, opening pathways into virtually every industry.
  • Neuroscience - Explores the brain and nervous system through the combined lenses of biology, chemistry and psychology, positioning graduates for research, graduate study, and medical or health professional programs.

"These programs reflect where our students' interests and the job market are headed," said Provost Joseph R. Hames. "Each one is built on real, hands-on training so graduates leave ready to contribute from day one."

Expanding Access to In-Demand Fields

This expansion is part of a broader commitment to creating opportunities for Bethel students. By investing in programs across emerging technology, business and the sciences, the University is working to ensure a Bethel degree leads somewhere real, whether that is industry, graduate school or a professional calling. These majors also carry forward what Bethel has always done. The University was founded to prepare students for lives of service, and each new program is built the way every Bethel program is built, with attention to academics, character and the practical skills a graduate carries into the working world. A student who defends a hospital's data, who helps a jury understand what the evidence shows, or who builds the systems a growing company depends on is doing work that serves people. That is the standard to which Bethel holds these programs. As the workforce changes, Bethel intends to change with it, focused on ensuring that opportunity, not circumstance, determines how far a student can go.

All seven programs are open for enrollment now. Prospective students can learn more at bethelu.edu.
