Bethel/Eastside FCE News
From the Jul 16, 2024 e-EditionSeven members, one guest, Thelma Rougeau, and our favorite agent, Lacy Yeley, met at Pennye and Mary Mays’s home for the July 11 meeting. The vice president, Pennye Mays, called the meeting to order. She read the 23rd Psalm for our devotion. We all read the Homemakers Club Pledge in unison. The minutes were read from the May meeting because the June meeting was canceled. The treasury report was given and approved.
Old business: The cake idea for nursing home birthdays was discussed. It is to be looked into further by Mary Mays and then tabled until the August meeting. July 19th is cluster meeting in Decatur. July 31, 2024 is another County Council meeting at 10 am at the complex.
New business: August 6 is a mini-conference at Clarksville. Our cultural art exhibits that won 1st and 2nd will now be judged at district level. Be sure to get your items to Lacy’s office for pick up.
August is our picnic month, and we agreed to meet at Old West Steakhouse in McKenzie at 11:30.
The hostess, Danita Laman, gave the program on Carroll County and the Civil War. Several markers commemorating this era are located around Carroll County. It was mentioned that we should take a Saturday and explore these markers, culminating with lunch. Nothing was decided, but everyone was in agreement that we should.
