Billy Eugene Phifer

GLEASON, Tenn. — Funeral services for Billy Eugene Phifer, 52, were Saturday, June 20, 2026, at  at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home. Interment was at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in the Stafford Store Community.

Mr. Phifer died on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Skyline Medical Center.

He was born in Martin, Tenn., on October 8, 1973, to Eugene Phifer and Kay Welch Hayes. Billy was a proud graduate of the McKenzie High School Class of 1992 and the McKenzie Vocational School. A dedicated worker, he spent 30 years as a Process Engineer at Dana Corporation and also served as a groundskeeper for Bethel University. He was a faithful member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving partner of 15 years, Ginger Pratt; his children, Kaitlin (Ben) Hargett of McKenzie, Nina Phifer (Dylan Cary) of McKenzie, Jonathan (Heather) Wheat of McKenzie, and Samantha (Matt) Massey of Springville; his mother, Kay Hayes of Gleason; his father, Gene (Lucille) Phifer of Greenfield; a sister, Stephanie (Danny) Frazier of Sharon; and a brother, Bobby Welch of Buchanan, Tenn.

He also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Sadie Goff, Bryant Ward, Marlee Wheat, McCoy Wheat, Stevie Hargett, Wyatt Cary, and Banks Massey.
