From the May 13, 2025 e-EditionBobby Joe Kirby was born on February 22, 1936, in Clarksburg, Tenn. He was called home from Life Care Center in Bruceton, Tenn. on May 4, 2025 at the age of 89.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Ollie Kirby and brother, Thomas Kirby. He married Martha Jo James of Hollow Rock, Tenn. on June 6, 1959. They had one son Keith (Beth) and two grandsons, Cole and Clark. He cherished spending time with his family. He leaves behind one brother, Larry Kirby, a brother-in-law, Paul James, a sister-in-law, Brenda Bullington, many nephews and nieces.
He was a faithful member of the Bruceton Church of Christ. He loved visiting with friends and watching sporting events. He was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals and Vanderbilt Commodores fan, but his favorite teams were any team with one of his grandsons and those Bruceton-Hollow Rock Central Tigers. Bobby Kirby enjoyed life to the fullest. We will all miss him.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 8, 2025, in the Chapel of Bruceton Funeral Home. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery.
