McKENZIE (October 24) — The 11th annual Boo Bash in downtown McKenzie was the biggest ever, according to event sponsors, the City of McKenzie and Bethel University. An estimated 4,000 people attended the annual event that was scheduled for two hours but extended well beyond that time because of the larger than expected number of attendees.

The annual event is McKenzie’s single best attended event and brings out many costumed children and adults to celebrate.

Children and parents lined around the perimeter of the downtown Veterans Memorial Park on Cedar and Main streets as they awaited their turn to participate in the trunk or treating. This annual event draws many participants from Bethel’s Greek, social, and sports community as the college adults love to participate in the event. Local businesses also provided candy.

The children flow in line along both sides of Broadway, where each organization hands out candy and greets the children.

The city of McKenzie’s Public Works Department and Bethel University sold refreshments. McKenzie Police Department and McKenzie Fire Department were also there to greet the children and provide safety.

The Haunted Train, operated by Jim Fields for the City of McKenzie, transported many passengers for the evening.

Inflatable jumpers were also a real hit for the children. Those were provided by the City of McKenzie.
