Known to many as “Coach,” Brad devoted 33 years to teaching at Buchanan, Puryear, and Henry Schools. As a teacher, coach, and mentor, he impacted countless students with his kindness, humor, and steady encouragement.
He was an avid Henry County High School sports fan and, after retiring from teaching, spent time cheering on his favorite teams and driving the football team to road games.
He shared 56 loving years of marriage with his wife, Frances (Jenie) Melton, a partnership rooted in deep devotion. He was a devoted and exceptionally supportive dad to Heather, and he was a proud grandfather to Audrey Brinkley and Dean Brinkley, supporting them wholeheartedly in all they did.
Brad is survived by his wife, Frances (Jenie) Melton; his daughter, Heather Brinkley (Kirt); his grandchildren, Audrey and Dean Brinkley; and his sister, Kathy Cooper (Sylvain); his nephew, Chris Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jewell Melton, Sr.; his mother, Margaret Evans; his brother, Jewell Melton, Jr.
