McKenzie, Tenn. — Funeral services for Bruce Herrin are Monday, September 15, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Herrin Cemetery, Somerset, Kentucky.
Coach Herrin, 77 years old, died Friday at his residence.
He was a member of Henry Church of Christ and was a member of Somerset Baptist Church. He was a retired teacher and coach at McKenzie Schools, a member of Bethel College Hall of Fame, where he played basketball during his collegiate years, Outstanding Athletics of America in 1969, and an Honorable Mention on the All-Kentucky team.
He was born on October 2, 1947, in Somerset, Kentucky, to Otis and Mattie Minter Herrin.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Bartnett Herrin, daughter, Holly (David) Porter of Henry, a son, Brad Herrin of Murfreesboro and two sisters, Hadie (Benny) White and Myrna Florence Criswell, all of Somerset, Kentucky, four grandchildren, Ryleigh H. (Troy) Mruk, Brycen Herrin, Will Porter and Evie Porter and one great-granddaughter, Hadlee.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jr. Herrin and Jimmy Herrin.
