From the Jun 10, 2025 e-EditionBRUCETON, Tenn. — The Town of Bruceton celebrates its 100th anniversary on Saturday, June 14, 2025, noon at 209 Cheatham Street.
City officials welcome everyone to the unsealing of the time capsule as the town kicks off its celebration. The items were donated 25 years ago and placed in the capsule.
Bruceton was named after William P. Bruce, a VP of the N.C. & St. Louis Railroad, who determined the railroad route would run through the town.
With a once-thriving textile and railroad economy, Bruceton has become a small town with a close-knit community. According to the town's website, it serves as a bedroom community for employers like Granges and Chemours and larger towns such as Huntingdon and Camden, Tennessee.
With two thriving grocery stores, Dollar General and Family Dollar/Dollar Tree, a Casey’s, Little General, Apex Bank and Case Drug Store and Bruceton Hometown Clinic. Major employers in the town are Zline Kitchens, CSX Railroad, Lifecare and RAC Medical.
The town boasts all the amenities of small-town living, including a thriving park with a walking track, play equipment, outdoor exercise equipment, little league, and a plethora of small businesses, including restaurants, multiple hair salons, a liquor store, and a smoke shop.
The town has a yearly festival called Bruceton In May, which boasts a great day out for all the family. It includes a band and arts and crafts festival with food trucks and vendors. Games and fun for all the family, 3rd Saturday in May.
