Bulldogs End Season with Semifinal Loss to Humboldt

McKENZIE (March 3) — The Gleason Bulldogs ended their season Tuesday with a 61-47 loss to Humboldt in the semifinal round of the Region 7-1A Boys Basketball Tournament hosted by Bethel University. An early lead by the Vikings was the difference as the Bulldogs kept pace during the final three quarters but were unable to close the gap.

Humboldt jumped out to a 19-8 lead after the opening frame, led by Darian Taylor with 13 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Damarion Westbrook, Jakevious Graves and Terrell Cole each had a pair. Bulldog Kade Sawyers scored four points, and Drake Lehmkuhl and Brody Sanders each had a pair.

The Vikings had a 14-13 edge in the second quarter, led by Kavien Taylor with eight points. D. Taylor and Jaden Champion each hit a three. Lehmkuhl scored seven for Gleason with a three-pointer. Brock Dilday had five points, also with a three. Miami Woolridge hit a free throw. At the half, Humboldt led 33-21.

The third was a 10-10 wash. Parker Morgan led the Bulldogs with five points, including a three. Woolridge and Sanders each added a pair, and Dilday hit a freebie. Champion hit a three-pointer for the Vikings, and K. Taylor also scored three points. Graves and Cole each added a pair. Entering the final frame, the Vikings led 43-31.

Humboldt sealed the win with an 18-16 tilt in the fourth, led by D. Taylor and Graves with five points each. K. Taylor and Tyon Campbell each scored four. Sawyers led Gleason with six points. Sanders scored five, and Woolridge hit a three-pointer. Dilday added a pair.

Viking Darion Taylor led all scorers with 21 points, including four three-pointers. Kavien Taylor scored 15.

Kade Sawyers led Gleason with ten points. Drake Lehmkuhl and Brody Sanders each scored nine, Lehmkuhl with a three-pointer.
