Bulldogs Erase Nine-Run Deficit to Defeat Tigers in Extras

GLEASON (April 17) — The Gleason High School Bulldogs hosted Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Friday for a baseball contest. The visiting Tigers stormed out to a 9-0 lead, but the Bulldogs scratched their way back to tie it in the second inning and again in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. Gleason capped the comeback with a walk-off, two-out single in the eighth for a 14-13 win.

Central exploded out of the gate for nine runs in the top of the first. Gleason scored three in the home half, then tied it with six in the second. The Tigers pulled ahead again with three runs in the third, then added one in the fifth. The Bulldogs cut the gap with two in the bottom half, then tied it again with two in the seventh. Ashton Morgan won it in the eighth with a walk-off single.

Bulldog Drake Lehmkuhl was 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, seven RBIs and three runs scored. Ashton Morgan was 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base. Trey Mayo was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Parker Morgan was 1-for-5 with a double, a sacrifice fly, an RBI and a run scored. Ty Keeling was 1-for-4 with two walks and two runs scored. Brody Sanders was 1-for-5 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Bryce Pettit was 0-for-2 with three walks and a run scored. Brock Dilday and Caleb Jones were each 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base.

Tiger Gage Weatherly was 4-for-5 with a walk, two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. Brayden Maness was 3-for-5 with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Brody Huff was 3-for-5 with a sacrifice fly, two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. Dalton Howard was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Tanner Walters was 2-for-6 with a walk, three runs scored and a stolen base. Braxton Howard was 1-for-3 with two walks, an RBI and two runs scored. Drake Hollingsworth was 1-for-5 with a double, a sacrifice fly, an RBI and a run scored. Parker Boyd was 1-for-5 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.

Ashton Morgan got the start for Gleason, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on six hits while walking two and striking out two in two-thirds of an inning. Ty Keeling threw seven and a third innings of relief and earned the win, allowing four earned runs on 12 hits while walking four and  striking out three.

Tanner Walters started for Central, allowing six earned runs on one hit while walking one and striking out three in one inning. Brody Huff pitched three frames, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits while walking four and striking out one. Parker Finley threw the final three and two-thirds frames and took the loss, allowing four earned runs on six hits while walking three and striking out two.
