Pink Ball Gala at Webb School
A Pink Ball Gala is Saturday, October 19, 6 p.m. at the former Webb High School, 938 Walnut Avenue, McKenzie. Admission is $25. The event is for breast cancer awareness.

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Available
The Northwest TN Economic Development Council is accepting applications for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. This program assists low-income households through direct energy payments to their energy provider. Proof of gross household income is required to determine eligibility. Applicants must also submit a government ID, social security number verification for all household members and a current utility company print-out showing the last 12 months of usage at their current location. Individuals interested in applying for the LIHEAP Program should make an appointment at the Northwest TN Economic Development Council office in their county of residence. Funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is provided through the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA).

New Hours
Effective October 1, 2024, The McKenzie Banner and TCP Print Shop have new hours. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.; closed on weekends. Holiday hours are subject to change. If you need assistance outside of our hours, e-mail banner@mckenziebanner.com.

Newspaper Office Closed October 17-18
The McKenzie Banner and TCP Print Shop will be closed on Thursday, October 17 through Friday, October 18 for Fall Break. We will reopen on Monday, October 21. Thank you for allowing us this time with our family.

Snow White at Lakeside Senior Living Center
On Thursday, October 31, 6-8 p.m., Lakeside Senior Living Community is hosting a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Experience.
On Station 1 — Visit the Evil Witch and her Magic Mirror and receive a tasty red apple.
Station 2 — Capture a photo of your trick or treater with Snow White herself.
Station 3 — Receive some sweet candy gems mined by the Seven Dwarfs.
Station 4 — A handsome prince will award you with a chocolate candy kiss.
Visit us for the fund at Lakeside, 390 Dr. Smith Lane, McKenzie.

McKenzie Boo Bash is Thursday, October 24
McKenzie’s 11th Annual Boo Bash is Thursday, October 24, 5:30-8:30 p.m. in downtown McKenzie. It is an annual event that attracts children and their families from throughout the tri-counties and beyond. The event has grown into one of McKenzie’s best attended events. The event includes trunk or treating along Broadway Street, bouncy houses, cake walk, best trunk contest, best costume contests, haunted train rides, bail-me-out fundraiser.
Hot dogs, chips and drinks are available by the City of McKenzie for $5 cash.
Caramel apples are available by Bethel University for $4 cash.
Costume contests are ages 0-2, 3-5, 6-9, 10-14, and families.
The event is sponsored by the City of McKenzie and Bethel University. It is free to the public.

Carroll County Prayer Revival
A Carroll County Prayer Revival is the week of October 21-26. All churches east of the courthouse meet Monday, October 21 at 5 p.m. at Bruceton City Park. All churches north of the courthouse meet Tuesday, October 22 at 6 p.m. at McKenzie City Park. All churches south of the courthouse meet Wednesday, October 23 at 6 p.m. at Clarksburg City Park. All churches west of the courthouse meet Thursday, October 24 at 6 p.m. at the Y (Hwys 70/79) in Atwood. All churches of Carroll County meet Saturday, October 26 at 4 p.m. at Veterans Park in Huntingdon. For more information, contact Pastor Wilma Pearson at 865-406-9889.

American Legion Post 94 Recruitment, Collection
American Legion Post 94 in Dresden will be at E.W. James & Sons in Dresden on Monday, October 21, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to recruit new and former members to the post. They will also be collecting donations for the Children’s Welfare Foundation and Post 94 itself. The Post is in need of a new roof and heat pump. Any questions you may email David W. McKenzie Memorial Library October Events
Join us at the McKenzie Memorial Library for a spellbinding series of events this October! Mark your calendars and bring your friends for an enchanting experience. On Monday, October 28, get into the Halloween spirit by decorating foam skulls. This creative event is perfect for those who love to craft and embrace the spooky season! On Thursday, October 31, celebrate Halloween with a chilling session of spooky stories. Gather around as we delve into tales that will send shivers down your spine! NWTN EDC Commodity Distribution
The Northwest TN Economic Development Council conducts USDA Commodity Distribution for Carroll County residents at 13355 Paris Street, Huntingdon on Tuesday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 16 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. or until food runs out. This is a first-come, first-served service. Residents must be signed up to receive assistance but can sign up on site if eligible requirements are established. This organization is an equal opportunity provider.

Haunted House at War Zone
War Zone Ax N Tag, 12915 US-79, McKenzie, hosts a haunted house every weekend in October. Hours are 7 p.m.-midnight on Friday and Saturday, 5-10 p.m. on Sunday. It will be open on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31 from 7 p.m.-midnight. For more information, call 731-251-3099.

McKenzie Project Graduation Bull ride
McKenzie High School Project Graduation and Crazy J Bucking Bulls present a bull ride event Saturday, October 26 at 579 Cherrywood Road, McKenzie. Gates open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Ages four and under are free. Each activity requires one ticket; additional tickets can be purchased at the gate. There will be concessions, plenty of parking and tons of fun!

Huntingdon School Board to Meet
The Huntingdon Board of Education meets Wednesday, October 23 at 5 p.m. at the central office at 585 High Street, Huntingdon. Individuals wanting to address the board on an agenda item shall notify the director of schools’ office by 1 p.m. the day of the meeting.

Greenfield FBC October Events
To kick off Greenfield First Baptist Church’s Fall Revival, it will hold its annual Fish Fry on Saturday, October 19 from 5–7 p.m. Reservations are required by calling 731-235-3365.
Greenfield First Baptist Church’s Fall Revival is Sunday, October 20 through Wednesday, October 23. Sunday services are 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday–Wednesday services are 7 p.m. Bro. Dennis Trull from First Baptist Church McKenzie will preach. Greenfield FBC Worship Team will lead the music.
Greenfield’s Front Street Festival Community Gospel Singing is Thursday, October 24 at 7 p.m. at Greenfield First Baptist Church.
Greenfield First Baptist Church’s Harvest Day is Sunday, October 27. Worship begins at 10 a.m. with a potluck fellowship meal to follow.

We always have spay/neuter vouchers for cats at a cost of $50 and to be used at Paris Vet Clinic. If you need to pay with cash, come by the shelter to purchase. Yard Sale
A yard sale is Thursday-Friday, October 17-18 from 8 a.m.-noon at the shelter on Highway 22 in McKenzie.
Halloween Bingo, Soup, Cornbread
CCHS hosts Halloween Bingo and an all-you-can-eat soup and cornbread dinner Sunday, October 27 at 2 p.m. at the Carroll Bank & Trust Community Building in Huntingdon.

Adult Education Classes
Huntingdon Location — Adult Education Building, 14155 Paris Street. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Classes are offered for one-on-one instruction on Mondays, 1-4 p.m. and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-NOON. For more information, phone 731-364-5481.

McKenzie TOPS to Meet

Carroll County Republican Party meets monthly each fourth Tuesday, 7 p.m. in the Public Safety Building in Huntingdon.

Carroll Commission Meets Monthly
Carroll County Commission meets the second Monday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Carroll County Office Complex, High Street, Huntingdon. There are no meetings in February and July.
