Habitat For Humanity Gala is November 7
The annual Habitat for Humanity Gala is Thursday, November 7 at the Carroll County Civic Center.
The event is the non-profit organization’s way of raising money for its mission to build low-cost housing for the county’s worthy families and make a difference in their lives.
Banquet tickets start at $50. Table sponsorships are $400 for eight seats.
A $600 donation gets two tickets and added publicity.

The local chapter of Habitat for Humanity has built 22 homes since 1991 in Hollow Rock-Bruceton, Atwood, Clarksburg, Huntingdon, McKenzie, and Trezevant.

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Available
The Northwest TN Economic Development Council is accepting applications for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. This program assists low-income households through direct energy payments to their energy provider. Proof of gross household income is required to determine eligibility. Applicants must also submit a government ID, social security number verification for all household members and a current utility company print-out showing the last 12 months of usage at their current location. Individuals interested in applying for the LIHEAP Program should make an appointment at the Northwest TN Economic Development Council office in their county of residence. Funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is provided through the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA).

Huntingdon Public Works Committee to Meet
Town of Huntingdon Public Works Committee will meet Wednesday, October 30 at 8 a.m. at Huntingdon City Hall Council Room. Mr. Robert Keeton, III has prepared a draft ordinance as requested at the last committee meeting.

Snow White at Lakeside Senior Living Center
On Thursday, October 31, 6-8 p.m., Lakeside Senior Living Community is hosting a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Experience.
On Station 1 — Visit the Evil Witch and her Magic Mirror and receive a tasty red apple.
Station 2 — Capture a photo of your trick or treater with Snow White herself.
Station 3 — Receive some sweet candy gems mined by the Seven Dwarfs.
Station 4 — A handsome prince will award you with a chocolate candy kiss.

Bethel Baptist Harvest Day
Bethel Baptist Church, 25755 Hwy 22, McKenzie, hosts a Harvest Day celebration Sunday, November 3. Fellowship Bible class is at 9:45 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m., then a church-wide fellowship meal. A Gospel singing by The Long Family is at 1:30 p.m. There will be no evening service this date. Invite someone to come with you.

Carroll County Chamber Classic
The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce presents the 2024 Chamber Classic at Bethel University November 1-2 with four women’s basketball teams playing four games. On Friday, November 1, Arkansas Baptist vs. Campbellsville at 11 a.m.; Bethel vs. Milligan at 1 p.m. On Saturday, November 2, Campbellsville vs. Milligan at 2 p.m.; Bethel vs. Arkansas Baptist at 4 p.m.

McKenzie Memorial Library October Events

Ribbon Cutting for West Tennessee Healthcare — Henry County Hospital
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is Thursday, November 7, 2 p.m. at Henry County Hospital, Tyson Avenue, Paris. West Tennessee Healthcare is leasing and operating the hospital from the county of Henry.

American Legion Huntingdon Trunk or Treat
American Legion Post 47 of Huntingdon hosts Trunk or Treat on Halloween, Thursday, October 31 from 5-7 p.m. at 1125 Northwood Drive. Prizes will be given for best decorated vehicle and costume. American Legion Huntingdon Fish Fry
American Legion Post 47 of Huntingdon hosts a fish fry Saturday, November 9 at 11 a.m. at the new Veterans Event Center at 1125 Northwood Drive. Celebrate Veterans Day with us and enjoy a fish dinner to go. Plates are $15. All donations for this event help Carroll County veterans and to grow the new Center.

Haunted House at War Zone
War Zone Ax N Tag, 12915 US-79, McKenzie, hosts a haunted house every weekend in October. Hours are 7 p.m.-midnight on Friday and Saturday, 5-10 p.m. on Sunday. It will be open on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31 from 7 p.m.-midnight. For more information, call 731-251-3099.

Cat Vouchers
We always have spay/neuter vouchers for cats at a cost of $50 and to be used at Paris Vet Clinic. If you need to pay with cash, come by the shelter to purchase. Adult Education Classes
Huntingdon Location — Adult Education Building, 14155 Paris Street. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Classes are offered for one-on-one instruction on Mondays, 1-4 p.m. and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-NOON. For more information, phone 731-364-5481.

McKenzie TOPS to Meet
The McKenzie TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter meets on Mondays at 3 p.m. at the McKenzie Church of Christ gym. Anyone interested in losing weight can join. For more information, contact Linda Lawrence at 731-352-7309. If no answer, leave a message.

Carroll Democratic Party Meets
The Carroll County Democratic Party meets the third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. at 12740 Lexington Street, Huntingdon.

Carroll Republican Party Meets
Carroll County Republican Party meets monthly each fourth Tuesday, 7 p.m. in the Public Safety Building in Huntingdon.

Carroll Commission Meets Monthly
Carroll County Commission meets the second Monday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Carroll County Office Complex, High Street, Huntingdon. There are no meetings in February and July.
