‘Picking by the Pond’ on May 30
Carl Byars and Steve Bomar are hosting “Picking by the Pond” musical entertainment Saturday, May 30 from 5-8 p.m. at McKenzie City Park. Several local entertainers will be performing and some surprise guests. There will be a line dance break around 6:30 p.m. Food available. No cover, tips welcome. Kid friendly.

Sheriff Town Hall Coming June 30
The McKenzie Banner and The Carroll County Observer are partnering to organize a Carroll County Sheriff’s Town Hall and Community Forum on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Carroll County Civic Center in Huntingdon, Tenn. (201 Mustang Drive, Huntingdon, TN 38344) to meet the three candidates vying for the Sheriff’s position: Eric Sawyers, Michael A. Smith and Ryan White.
The moderator will be retired Circuit Court Judge Donald Parish. News media will be broadcasting the event. Early voting is July 17-August 1. Election day is August 6, 2026.
Young Kings Talent and Leadership Camp
Soaring for Greatness Youth Foundation presents its inaugural Young Kings Talent and Leadership Camp, a life-changing experience for middle and high school boys to discover their talent, build leadership skills, and create a legacy that lasts on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at McKenzie Middle School, 80 Woodrow Avenue in McKenzie. ALA Unit 47 Family Dance Night
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 47 hosts a Family Dance Night every Thursday night from 7-9 p.m. at the Carroll County Civic Center, 201 Fairgrounds Rd, Huntingdon. A different band is featured each week. All are welcome – singles and/or partners. Admission is $8. Limited snacks and refreshments available for purchase.
