Camden Walk-Off Eliminates Mustangs

McKENZIE (April 23) — Huntingdon Middle School faced the Camden Lions Thursday night in a district tournament elimination game. Momentum went back-and-forth in the contest. The Lions took an early lead, then the Mustangs rallied to pull ahead in the middle innings. In the fifth and final frame, Camden claimed a 6-5 walk-off win on a passed ball.

The Lions scored a run in the bottom of the first, then added three in the second. Huntingdon tied it with four in the top of the third, then took the lead with a run in the fourth. Camden scored two in the fifth to pull ahead for the win.

Mustang Elijah Harris was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs. Banks Butler was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Cohen Gray was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base. Max Kelley was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Bryce Maddox was 0-for-1 with two walks. Miller Holmes was 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Nathan Huss was 0-for-3 with an RBI.

Lion Weston P. was 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases. Ryder J. was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Gavin M. was 1-for-3. Jackson K. was 0-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base. Klay P. was 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored. Tripp P. was 0-for-1 with two walks. Max P. was 0-for-2 with an RBI.

Gavin M. got the start for Camden, allowing four earned runs on five hits while walking three and striking out three in two and two-thirds innings. Jack M. pitched a third of an innings, allowing no runs or hits with one walk. Knox K. threw the final two frames, allowing one earned run on two hits while walking one and striking out one.

Bryce Maddox started for Huntingdon, allowing six runs (one earned) on three hits while walking three and striking out four in four and a third innings. Banks Butler faced the final batter for a walk.
