Carroll County to Host America 250 Celebration on July 18
From the Jul 7, 2026 e-EditionCARROLL COUNTY — Residents are invited to mark their calendars for a special America 250 celebration, is Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Carroll County Courthouse.
The event begins at 9 a.m. with a short patriotic program, followed immediately by a children’s parade. The festivities continue throughout the morning with a variety of family-friendly games and activities, wrapping up at 11:30 a.m.
Organizers have announced two key contests highlighting American traditions:
- Homemade Apple Pie Contest: Participants should drop off their entries by 8:45 a.m. in front of the Mudslingers. Entries must feature 100 percent apple filling; tarts, cheesecakes, and fried pies will not be accepted. Judging will evaluate the pie's overall appearance, crust, and filling.
- Hot Dog Eating Contest: Kicking off shortly after the opening program, this contest challenges participants to be the fastest to finish 10 hot dogs. Pre-registration is required; those interested can register by contacting the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce at 731-986-4664.
