HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — The Carroll County Extension Office is inviting local residents to spice things up this summer with a hands-on salsa canning class on Monday, July 21 at 1:00 p.m. The class will take place at the Extension office, located at 625 High Street in Huntingdon.

Participants will learn how to make and preserve salsa using the water bath canning method, a safe and effective technique for home food preservation. Whether you’re a beginner wanting to learn the basics or a seasoned canner looking for a fun refresh, this class offers something for everyone.

The cost to attend is $25 per person, which includes all supplies and ingredients. Pre-registration is required. To register, call the Carroll County Extension Office at 731-986-1976.

“This class is always a hit,” said Lacy Yeley, Family and Consumer Sciences Agent with UT Extension. “It’s a great way to build confidence in the kitchen, learn safe canning practices, and leave with a product you made yourself. Plus, we always have a lot of fun!”

Participants will go home with valuable skills, a jar of their own homemade salsa, and resources to continue canning safely at home.

The University of Tennessee Extension service offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, disability or veteran status and is an Equal Opportunity employer.
