Carroll County Introduces Driver’s License Kiosk for Renewals
From the Mar 4, 2025 e-Edition
Carroll County residents now have access to a self-service Driver’s License Kiosk, providing a convenient option for renewing licenses without visiting a full-service Driver Services Center. The kiosk is located at the Carroll County Office Complex, 625 High Street, Suite 103, Huntingdon, TN 38344.
The kiosk allows users to renew or replace an existing Tennessee driver’s license or ID card, print a temporary license until the permanent card arrives by mail, and update addresses for licenses and ID cards. However, it does not process new driver’s licenses, first-time ID applications, or handgun permits. Those requiring such services must visit a full-service center.
To use the kiosk, residents should bring their current Tennessee driver’s license or ID card. The on-screen prompts will guide users through the process, including entering personal information and selecting the appropriate service, whether it be renewal, replacement, or an address update. After completing these steps, payment must be submitted using a debit or credit card, as the kiosk does not accept cash. If applicable, a temporary license will be printed on-site, while the permanent card will arrive by mail.
For REAL ID applications, users must have previously uploaded the required REAL ID documents to e-Services and started the application process before using the kiosk. The kiosk includes passport verification for transactions, and an attendant must verify and approve all REAL ID documents before processing.
If assistance is needed, users can select the “Requesting Help” option on the kiosk, which will display a yellow help screen. From there, an attendant can assist in completing the transaction or transfer it to an examiner’s workstation. However, attendants will not be automatically notified via the system if help is requested, meaning users may need to seek assistance manually. Some transactions, such as handgun permits and non-issuance activities, cannot be transferred through the kiosk.
The kiosk operates as a cashless system, accepting credit and debit cards only. Residents should allow time for their new license to arrive and contact the Carroll County Clerk’s Office at (731) 986-1960 for assistance if needed.
With this new self-service option, Carroll County residents can now complete routine license renewals and replacements quickly and efficiently, avoiding long waits at regional service centers.
