Carroll County Sheriff’s Reports
From the Dec 29, 2020 e-EditionAssault — Alvin Lenard Walker Jr., 30, and Destiney Floyd, 21, both of Milan, were both charged with simple assault following a Dec. 21 incident in Cedar Grove.
According to the report by Deputy Michael Sevarns, Walker and Floyd allegedly attacked James Edwards (Floyd’s stepfather) at his residence on Griggs Chapel Road. A witness told deputies that Floyd had been picked up from a Milan motel and brought to that address after Floyd called and said that she had been kicked out of her residence by her boyfriend (Walker). Shortly thereafter, Walker showed up, asking to speak with Floyd. The witness said that Floyd asked Edwards to go outside and tell Walker to leave, but when Edwards told Walker to leave the property, Walker pushed Edwards to the ground and started punching and kicking him. At one point, Floyd allegedly jumped on Edwards and started kicking and punching him, as well. Another resident confronted Walker and Floyd with a baseball bat and taser device, after which they left the residence in a vehicle. They were found and taken into custody by authorities a few hours later at a motel in Milan. Edwards was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Weapons Violation — Benjamin L. Christopher, 32, of 40 Buckley Street, Hollow Rock, was charged with a weapons violation following a Dec. 21 incident at his residence.
According to the report by Deputy Michael Sevarns, deputies responded to a call from Christopher’s neighbors, who said that Christopher had shot a gun and might have hit a vehicle. When questioned by deputies, Christopher initially denied shooting a gun, and deputies found no evidence of a gun being fired on the property. However, Christopher later admitted that he had fired one shot from a shotgun into the ground and then hid the shotgun under a mattress inside his home. Deputies retrieved the shotgun and found an empty shell in the barrel. A computer check revealed that Christopher is a convicted felon and not permitted to possess a firearm.
Public Intoxication, Disorderly — Jennifer L. Jordan, 33, of 871 Presson Road, McKenzie, was arrested on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct on Dec. 25 near Trezevant.
According to the report by Deputy Christopher Adams, he went to Harts Mill Road after receiving a call about trash being dumped and found Jordan and others at the location. Adams noted that while he was conducting his investigation, Jordan, who smelled of alcohol, was yelling and screaming and acting irrationally, and at one point she threw a lit cigarette at him. A man at the scene was also taken into custody due to a suspected warrant, but he was later released when it was determined that the warrant was incorrect.
