Officials Take Oath of Office

HUNTINGDON (August 31) — Carroll County’s newly elected and re-elected officials took the oath of office as they prepared to begin new four-year terms on September 1.
The officials were elected during the August 6 Carroll County General Election. The election brought several changes to county government, including a new sheriff, property assessor and several new members of the Carroll County Commission.
Eric W. Sawyers was sworn in as Carroll County Sheriff, succeeding retiring Sheriff Andy Dickson. Ronnie Wade was sworn in as Road Supervisor. Beginning with the new term, Carroll County operates with one road supervisor instead of the previous two positions.
Other countywide officials taking the oath were Joseph G. Butler, County Mayor; Sarah Bradberry, Circuit Court Clerk; John Austin, Property Assessor; Darlene Kirk, County Clerk; Paula Bolen, Trustee; and Natalie McCullough Porter, Register of Deeds.
Members of the Carroll County Commission taking the oath included:
District 1: Darrell Ridgely, Jimmy Halford Jr. and Randy Long.
District 2: Daniel L. Willman and Lana Y. Suite.
District 3: Brandy Boyd and Will McMackin.
District 4: Morris Rogers and Jerry W. Burcham.
District 5: Barry Mac Murphy, Jimmy Crossett and Curt Taylor.
District 6: Madison Endres and Philip E. Moore.
District 7: Lori Dillahunty and Walter Smothers.
District 8: Jay Phipps and Willie Huffman.
District 9: Jason R. Martin, Spiridon L. Roditis and Ricky Price.
The officials begin their new terms September 1 and will serve through 2030.
