Central Sweeps West Carroll

HOLLOW ROCK-BRUCETON (January 23) — Central High School hosted West Carroll Thursday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Tigers pulled ahead early en route to a 43-26 win, while the Tigers shook off an early deficit to claim a 62-42 victory.
Central Lady Tigers 43, West Carroll Lady War Eagles 26
The Lady Tigers had a 13-3 lead after the opening frame, led by McKinley Garrison with five points, including a three-pointer. Keely Williams and Ady Olds each hit a three, and Makala Bass had a pair. Aubrey Hammett had a pair for West Carroll, and Hailey Mitchell hit a free throw.
The Lady War Eagles had an 11-10 edge in the second quarter. Alayna Lovelace and Marissa Mueller each hit a three, and Hammett also scored three points. Mitchell added a pair. Garrison scored four points for Central. Williams hit a three, and Lilly McGee also scored three points. At the half, the Lady Tigers led 23-14.
Central had an 8-7 advantage in the third, led by Garrison with six points on a pair of threes. Olds and Ava Finley each hit a free throw. Lady War Eagle Taylor Robinson scored four points, Gracelyn Vernon had a pair, and Triniti Adkisson hit a free throw. Entering the final frame, Central led 31-21.
The Lady Tigers sealed the win with a 12-5 tilt in the fourth, led by Olivia Scott with four points. Olds hit a three-pointer, and Williams also scored three points. McGee added a pair. Mitchell led West Carroll with three points, and Hammett added a pair.
Lady Tiger McKinley Garrison led all scores with 15 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Keely Williams scored nine with a pair of threes.
Aubrey Hammett led West Carroll with seven points.
Tigers 62, War Eagles 42
West Carroll had a 17-15 edge after the first frame, led by Mason Taylor and Kayden Melton with seven points each. Demarion Gilbert had a pair, and Ryder Krawcyk hit a free throw. Tiger Parker Finley scored ten with a pair of three-pointers. Nic King had three points, and Brody Huff had a pair.
Central pulled ahead with a 20-7 advantage in the second quarter, led by Finley with eight points, including a pair of threes. Kaydince Banks and Seth Thomas each scored four, and Huff and Brayden Maness each had a pair. Gilbert hit a three for West Carroll, Taylor added a pair, and Melton and Isaiah Snyder each hit a free throw. At the half, Central led 35-24.
The Tigers enjoyed a 13-11 tilt in the third. Bryce Frye hit a three-pointer, and King also scored three points. Thomas, Maness and Finley each added a pair, and Banks hit a freebie. Melton led the War Eagles with four points. Snyder, Gilbert and Taylor each added a pair, and Krawcyk hit a free throw. Heading into the final frame, the Tigers led 48-35.
Central doubled up West Carroll 14-7 in the fourth. King and Caden Dean each scored five, each with a three-pointer. Junah Smith also hit a three, and Huff hit a freebie. Melton scored five for West Carroll, and Taylor added a pair.
Tiger Parker Finley led all scorers with 20 points, including four three-pointers. Nic King scored eleven with a three.
Kayden Melton led the War Eagles with 17 points. Mason Taylor scored 13.
