The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce will recognize Colonel James Harding Friday, January 16, at 8 a.m. at the Carroll County Civic Center for receiving the Distinguished Career and Leadership Award. The recognition will be held at the beginning of the Chamber’s Capitol Talk with Tennessee Representative Brock Martin.

James C. Harding is a retired United States Air Force colonel and pilot. He served two tours during the Vietnam War and flew a total 596 missions, all in propeller aircraft. Colonel Harding’s awards and decorations from the Vietnam War include the Air Force Cross, Distinguished Flying Cross, Silver Star and a Purple Heart with three bronze leaf clusters. Colonel Harding is the 25th most decorated American veteran.

Colonel Harding, now retired and living in Huntingdon, was awarded the Distinguished Career and Leadership Award by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce in October 2025. However, due to a scheduling conflict, he was unable to attend the 2025 Chamber Banquet to receive proper recognition.

The January 16 recognition is in appreciation of Colonel Harding’s dedication, leadership and commitment to serving the United States.

The Carroll County Chamber invites everyone to join them in honoring Colonel Harding for his contributions to the United States and to Carroll County.
