HUNTINGDON - Chuck R. Wallace, 74, of Huntingdon, died suddenly on Wednesday morning, April 16.
He was born in Milan, Tenn. on August 4, 1950, to parents Avie “Lefty” Wallace and Lucille Clark Wallace.
Chuck graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1969 and soon thereafter enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he proudly served in Vietnam.
After his military service, Chuck returned home and began a 34-year career with the United States Postal Service, eventually retiring as postmaster in McKenzie, Tenn.. He also served as president of both the Lions and Rotary clubs in Huntingdon. Chuck enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and hunting.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Chuck is survived by his wife of 50 years, Hilda Cawthon Wallace; two sons, Stuart (partner Phil Cobucci) of Nashville and Nathan (wife Kelley) of Huntingdon; and grandsons, Jack and Brady. He is also survived by two brothers, Danny (Judy) and Carl (Joan) Wallace of Huntingdon, two sisters, Treva Avery Smith of Cedar Grove and Lecia Wallace of Jackson, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life is on Saturday, April 26, at noon at Paul Ward Stadium (in case of inclement weather, the service will be held in the high school gym). Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon.
