City of Paris Begins $1.6 Million Paving Project
From the Jul 21, 2026 e-Edition
PARIS (July 20) — The City of Paris's 2026 Annual Street Paving Program is officially underway. Crews began milling on Volunteer Drive Monday morning, marking the start of this year's $1.6 million street improvement program.
Each year, City of Paris officials evaluate city streets using a pavement condition grading system that helps the Public Works Department identify which roads are in the greatest need of repair. This objective process allows the city to prioritize paving projects where they will have the greatest impact.
This year, the city increased its annual paving budget to $1.6 million in recognition of several factors that accelerated pavement deterioration, including:
- Damage caused by the January winter storm
- Street cuts and pavement impacts resulting from the Paris Board of Public Utilities water rehabilitation project
- Normal wear and aging of city streets
These additional funds will allow the city to address more streets than in a typical paving season.
The following streets are scheduled for milling and/or paving during this year’s program: Abbott Lane, Ann Street, Brewster Street, Brown Street, Caledonia Street, Corbin Street, Crosswy Street, Culpepper Drive, Dumas Street, Dunnlap, E. Blythe Avenue, Emerald Cove, Ellis Street, Green Street, Guthrie Road, Hardy Street, Highland Street, Jackson Street, Jack Younger Drive, Lake Street, Maple Street, McCambell Street, McClain Street, Paris Harbor Drive, Park Street, Penny Lane, Pin Oak, Poplar Street, Powell Street, Post Oak Drive, Recycling Drive, Rison Street, Short Road, Volunteer Drive, Whiskey Ridge Road, White Oak Drive, Williams Street, Winn Street and Wright Street.
Milling on Volunteer Drive from Patriot Avenue to Eiffel Tower Park is the only project currently in progress.
