From the Nov 18, 2025 e-Edition
McKENZIE — Members of the McKenzie High School Class of 1979 honored the memory of the late Karen Camp with a donation to the McKenzie High School Alumni Association.
They were honored to meet and greet her during the MHS Homecoming festivities on Friday, September 19, 2025.
She was a beloved teacher and the class of 1979’s class sponsor. In the year 2024, she and her husband, John, both retired teachers at McKenzie, were honored to serve as the grand marshals of the McKenzie High School Homecoming Parade.
Mrs. Camp died on October 21, 2025.
Donations were made to the Alumni Association (MHSAA) for a scholarship in her honor to go to a deserving student in the class of 2026. A committee from MHSAA selects recipients for the scholarship.
MHSAA is in its early years and is designed to benefit both the alumni and the students of McKenzie Special School District. Donations can be made to McKenzie High School Alumni Association, 114 W. Bell Ave., McKenzie, TN 38201.
