McKENZIE (May 21) — Keith Hodge, new head football coach at McKenzie High School, was the guest speaker at McKenzie Rotary Club on Tuesday, May 21.

Hodge was introduced by Devan Raymer, a guest, who played football for Hodge at Dresden High School.

Hodge replaces Coach Wade Comer, who after a highly successful career at McKenzie, is transitioning to be head coach at Milan High School.

Hodge’s Dresden Lions gave McKenzie its only regular season loss in  the 2023 season; then McKenzie returned the favor by defeating Dresden in the semi-finals to advance to the state championship.

Hodge grew up in Hollow Rock-Bruceton and has coached at Dresden and Murray. He said he is meeting with the McKenzie players and getting to know them. He said the new indoor practice facility is a bonus, especially during extreme weather days, however, the players must acclimate to the heat for early-season competition.

Most of the McKenzie coaching staff remained to assist Hodge. Ben Carter, Hodge’s assistant coach at Dresden, will join Hodge at McKenzie. Carter is a Huntingdon native.
