County Commission Honors Huntingdon Football Team

Brandy Boyd Appointed to District 3 Vacancy

HUNTINGDON (January 12) — The Carroll County Commission met on January 12 at the Carroll County Civic Center. The Huntingdon High School State Champion Football Team was honored with a proclamation. The Commission selected Brandy Boyd to fill the vacancy in District 3 previously held by Larry Spencer.

Other items on the agenda approved were a series of budget amendments:

Resolution 1-04-2026 — Solid Waste Fund Budget amended in the amount of $70,000 for the purchase of a new box truck for the Recycling Center.

Resolution 1-05-2026 — Highway Fund Budget amended in the amount of $2,555 to cover the cost increase of fire extinguisher repair/replacement for the service agreement.

Resolution 1-06-2026 — Amend the Grant Fund Budget for Tennessee Agricultural

Enhancement Program (TAEP) Grant in the amount of $100,000. This will go towards the construction of a commercial kitchen at the Carroll County Civic Center.

Resolution 1-07-2026 — Amends the Grant Fund Budget for the Sheriff’s Office Grants through a $14,520 Tennessee Corrections Institute (TCI) training equipment grant and School Resource. Officer (SRO) bonus pay ($5,600), for any SRO who worked a full school/fiscal year and is currently employed.

Additional resolutions approved on the agenda were: Resolution 1-01-2026 reappointing Andrea Browning, Willie Huffman, and Lana Suite to the Carroll County Industrial Development Board; Resolution 1-02-2026 appointing Wesley Bradley to the Carroll County Board of Zoning Appeals and Carroll County Regional Planning Commission; Resolution 1-03-2026 appointing Morris Rogers and Michael Williamson to the Carroll County Agricultural Extension Board.

Lastly, there was a presentation from the Carroll County FFA group on agricultural issues, a Carroll County Prevention Coalition update by Heather Foster, and approval of the Committees of the Carroll County Legislative Body.
