Carroll County Commission Meets Monday
From the Aug 5, 2025 e-EditionThe Carroll County Commission meets Monday, August 14 at 7 p.m. at the Carroll County Government Complex. The following items are on the agenda:
Declare a vacancy for a commission seat in District 7. The seat was held by Manuel Crossno.
Resolution 8-01-2025 — Amend the School General Fund Budget (increase of $386 to Technology – Other Salaries & Wages from Technology – Administrative Equipment.
Resolution 8-02-2025 — Reappoint Chris Gurley to the Carroll County Electric Department Board.
Resolution 8-03-2025 — Authorize Carroll County to join the State of Tennessee and other local governments in amending the Tennessee State-Subdivision Opioid Abatement Agreement and approving the related settlement agreements.
Resolution 8-04-2025 — Increases the Mineral Severance Tax in Carroll County. Due to factors such as rising material costs, inflation, and supply chain disruptions, the cost of county road and bridge construction and maintenance has increased dramatically and Carroll County needs additional revenue for construction and maintenance of its roads and bridges. The levied increase in mineral severance tax will be twenty cents per ton.
Resolution 8-05-2025 — Authorizes the County Mayor and EMA Director to sign an agreement with Crisis24 for CodeRED which delivers emergency notifications and alerts like severe weather warnings, evacuations, boil water notices, etc.
Resolution 8-06-2025 — Approve the interlocal contract for cooperative purchasing through Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC).
Resolution 8-07-2025 — Authorizes Carroll County to purchase land and building for fire protection in Cedar Grove from Christopher Daniel Smith for $15,000.
Resolution 8-08-2025 — Authorizes Carroll County to purchase land and building for fire protection in Macedonia from Robin and Tamara Popplewell for $10,000.
