McKENZIE (January 10) — Winter Storm Cora blew in Friday morning, locking down a great portion of the Southeastern United States. The heaviest storm total was 14.3 inches in Mena, Arkansas. Around the McKenzie area, sources say approximately 6 to 7 inches of snow accumulated. According to the Weather Channel, in Charlotte, North Carolina, residents saw their first measurable snowfall in more than 1,000 days, while Nashville, Tennessee broke a 130-year-old daily snow record.

Many residents woke up Friday morning to a wintry wonderland. Countless snowmen and snow angels found their way in yards throughout the tri-county area. By late Sunday afternoon, much of the accumulated snow was no more than muddy puddles with an occasional snow drift.
