County Bands Fare Well at Huntingdon Marching Invitational

McKenzie High School swept Class A (band, percussion, color guard and drum major) and were among ten to advance to finals competition that evening, where they finished in seventh place.

HUNTINGDON (October 4) — Huntingdon High School hosted the Huntingdon Marching Invitational Saturday at Paul Ward Stadium, with 19 bands competing in five classes.

Carroll County bands excelled in the preliminary competition, earning several awards each.

McKenzie High School swept Class A (band, percussion, color guard and drum major).

In Class AA, West Carroll earned first in band, percussion and drum major and second in color guard. The Marching War Eagles also won the People's Choice Award based on fan donations.

Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central, also in AA, won first place color guard and second place band and drum major.

The McKenzie Marching Rebels were among ten to advance to finals competition that evening, where they finished in seventh place.

The preliminary portion of the competition also featured exhibition performances by the host Huntingdon Marching Mustangs and the Bethel University Renaissance Regiment.

Other competing bands included: Fayette Academy, Jackson Christian School, McEwen, Halls, Covington, Westview, Camden, Milan, McGavock, Green Hill (Grand Champion), Chester County, Crockett County, Henry County (Reserve Grand Champion), Dyer County, Forrest (Honorable Mention) and Peabody.
